Privacy Policy
Should I Go Outside? is built to be simple and respectful of your privacy. No accounts, no personal data stored. Here's what happens when you use the app or visit this website.
The short version
- Your location is used only to fetch weather data and is never stored or shared beyond that request.
- We collect anonymous crash reports and usage stats to keep the app working well.
- No account creation. No personal data stored. No selling of your data. Ever.
What the app collects
Your location
When you use the app, it sends your current location to a third-party weather API to fetch conditions for your area. Your location is never stored on our servers, never logged, and never shared with anyone beyond that single weather request.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
We use Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect anonymous crash reports. If the app crashes, we receive a technical stack trace that tells us what went wrong. No personal information, no location, no identifiers tied to you.
Firebase Crashlytics is operated by Google. You can learn more at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Usage analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the app, like which screens are visited and how often the app is opened. All of this data is anonymous and aggregated. We cannot identify individual users from it.
Google Analytics is operated by Google. You can learn more at policies.google.com/privacy.
What the website collects
Google Fonts
This website loads fonts (Lexend Mega and Public Sans) from Google Fonts servers. When your browser requests a font file, Google may log that request. We don't control those logs. See Google's privacy policy for details.
Cloudflare
This website is hosted and served through Cloudflare. Cloudflare collects standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) as part of normal hosting operations. These logs are used for security and performance purposes. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Cookies
The app itself does not set any cookies. Third-party services we use (Google Analytics, Firebase) may set their own cookies or use similar tracking technologies as part of their standard operation.
The website does not set first-party cookies. Cloudflare may set security-related cookies as part of their infrastructure.
Who we share data with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with anyone. The only sharing that happens is your location being sent to a weather API to fetch current conditions. The only third parties involved are our analytics and crash reporting tools described above.
Children's privacy
Should I Go Outside? is available to everyone. Because we don't collect any personal information from anyone, there are no special restrictions based on age. We have no way to identify whether a user is a child, and we collect nothing that would create a privacy risk for younger users.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data. Since we don't store any personal data, there's very little to act on. Here's how it breaks down:
- GDPR (EU/EEA residents): You have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since we store none, you'd primarily need to contact Google (for Analytics and Crashlytics) directly for any data they may hold tied to your device.
- CCPA (California residents): You have the right to know what personal data is collected and to opt out of the sale of your data. We collect no personal data and sell nothing. For analytics data, you can opt out through Google's privacy settings.
- Everyone else: The above applies to all users regardless of jurisdiction.
To exercise any rights or ask questions, email us at contact@toebeans.life.
Data security
Since we store nothing, there's nothing to breach on our end. The third-party services we use (Google, Cloudflare) have their own security practices in place.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this privacy policy, we'll update the effective date at the top.
